Sumbul has committed to support building a network of protected bike lanes to broaden access to bicycles as a mode of transportation. She said: “Promoting bicycling in Cambridge is a priority, as it reduces the usage of cars, thereby reducing carbon emissions, car accidents, and traffic. It is a far healthier form of transportation than cars for all of our residents.” Sumbul is a product of Cambridge, having immigrated here as a child, grown up in our public housing, and graduated from CRLS, Brown University, and then Northwestern University for law school. She is a public interest/legal aid attorney and Commissioner on the Cambridge Human Services Commission.
